Isostatic Pressing Molds


The carbon paste or pressed powder loaded into the mold is directly pressed in a high-pressure container to form a green body, which is called isostatic pressing. Isostatic pressing is used to produce fine particle structure, homogeneous high-density graphite or isotropic graphite. The basic principle of isostatic pressing follows Pascal's law in fluid mechanics. Isostatic pressing is to put the powder material to be pressed into an elastic mold, seal the mold mouth and place it in a high-pressure container, and then seal the high-pressure container inlet tightly. Use an ultra-high pressure pump to inject pressurized medium (generally pressurized oil) into the high-pressure container to pressurize the mold evenly, and the pressure in the container can rise to 100-600MPa. After a certain period of time, gradually reduce the pressure and discharge the pressurized medium. Open the high-pressure container under normal pressure, take out the mold, and then take out the formed green body from the mold. The isostatic pressing equipment is mainly composed of two parts: high-pressure container and high-pressure pump. Most of the high-pressure vessels are thick-walled cylinders processed by direct casting of high-strength alloy steel, and prestressed steel wires can also be wound and reinforced outside the cylinder.

Isostatic pressing technology is a kind of ultra-high pressure hydraulic advanced equipment that uses the products in the closed high-pressure container to form under the state of ultra-high pressure equal in all directions. Isostatic pressing technology is divided into three different types: cold isostatic pressing, warm isostatic pressing, and hot isostatic pressing according to the temperature during forming and consolidation.

The working principle of isostatic pressing is Pascal's law: "The pressure of the medium (liquid or gas) in a closed container can be transmitted equally in all directions." Isostatic pressing technology has a history of more than 70 years, and it was mainly used in powder metallurgy in the early stage. Powder molding; In the past 20 years, isostatic pressing technology has been widely used in ceramic casting, atomic energy, tool manufacturing, plastics, ultra-high pressure food sterilization and graphite, ceramics, permanent magnets, high-voltage electromagnetic porcelain bottles, biopharmaceutical preparation, food preservation, High-performance materials, etc.
