Wet bag type cold isostatic molding is a molding method using liquid medium incompressible and uniform transfer of pressure; dry bag type directly pressurized on the surface of the working bag, the pressure is transferred to the rubber elastic mold around the mold cavity of the powder product molding.

  Isostatic molding method has the following characteristics.

  (1)It can mold complex shapes, large pieces and thin and long products that cannot be produced by ~ general methods, and the molding quality is high.

  (2) It is easy to increase the molding pressure without increasing the difficulty of operation, and the effect of pressure is better than other dry pressing methods.

  (3)Since the billet is evenly pressed in all directions, its density is large and uniform, and the firing shrinkage is small, so it is not easy to be deformed.

  (4) The mold is easy to make, long life and low cost.

  (5) Less or no binder can be used.

  Advantages and disadvantages of isostatic molding.

  Advantages: high density, good quality, can be molded in large quantities

  Disadvantages: high cost, can not do special shapes

 Isostatic molding method:

  There are two types of isostatic molding methods, cold isostatic pressing and hot isostatic pressing. Cold isostatic pressing is further divided into wet isostatic pressing and dry isostatic pressing. The mold is in high pressure liquid, all parties are under pressure, so it is called wet isostatic pressing. It is mainly suitable for molding many kinds of products, more complex shapes, small output and large products. Dry isostatic pressing can form slender bar or tube blanks that are difficult to prepare by conventional molding process. The products have high strength and good workability, which can greatly reduce the internal stress. The mold is easy to make, long life and relatively low cost. It can form large size press billets with small machining allowance and save raw material cost.

  The operation process of isostatic pressing equipment is as follows: First, the blanks are loaded into the elastic mold made of plastic or rubber, placed in a high-pressure container, sealed, and then hit the high-pressure liquid medium, the pressure is transferred to the elastic mold so as to process the blanks. Then release the pressure to remove the mold, and from the mold to remove the molded blanks. The liquid medium can be water, oil or glycerin. However, a medium with low compressibility should be chosen, such as brake oil or anhydrous glycerin. Elastic mold material should be rubber or similar plastic with good elasticity and good oil resistance.
