(1) Semiconductor industry

In the manufacturing process of polysilicon wafers for solar cells, the first step is to melt and cast crushed polysilicon into polysilicon square ingots. The heater of the ingot casting furnace needs to be made of isostatic graphite. Because the isostatic graphite material has high strength, high density, good isotropy, the graphite parts made in the use of the process of heat, heating are more uniform, and at the same time because of the uniform density of the material can effectively reduce the material by rapid cooling and rapid heating and internal stress, good thermal shock resistance, can greatly extend the life cycle of equipment or apparatus, so in the semiconductor, solar photovoltaic power generation field is used to deep processing for silicon crystal graphite parts for growth equipment, such as graphite crucible, graphite hot field, graphite cover, graphite seat for silicon wafer epitaxy, graphite insulation cover and carbon insulation material. With the rapid development of integrated circuits, the size of silicon crystals has grown from 2 inches to 18 inches, and the size of graphite crucibles used has increased and the technical requirements have been strengthened, especially the need for high purity graphite. Graphite components for silicon growth equipment require graphite crucibles, graphite hot fields and other materials to be developed to high purity, large scale and high end technology.

 

(2) Atomic Energy Industry

 

In recent years, the global climate has been warming, and carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels is the main cause, so people's eyes have turned to the energy flow density is much higher than solar cells and wind power, and does not emit carbon dioxide and sulfur oxides of atomic power generation. Currently, most of the nuclear reactors in use around the world are mainly light water reactors. Because of the low temperature of water reactors, the power generation efficiency of light water reactors is not too high. High-temperature gas-cooled reactors do not have such a problem. Graphite is suitable for the core material of such high-temperature gas-cooled reactors because it is not only resistant to high temperatures, but also absorbs fewer neutrons and has good heat transfer. The fuel and material resources for nuclear fusion are almost inexhaustible, and the energy released during the reaction is also very large. For nuclear fusion to proceed in the long term, it is necessary to maintain the plasma at a certain temperature. Graphite is an essential material for the maintenance of the fusion plasma. In addition, graphite is a moderator of neutrons and an excellent reflector, and its own excellent properties have established its place in the nuclear industry.

 

(4) Continuous casting metallurgical industry

 

In order to shorten the production process, reduce the bottom cost, improve the quality, reduce labor intensity and pollution of the environment, for more than 20 years the production of metal materials gradually to the direction of continuous casting, so far copper, aluminum basic realization of continuous casting production. Isostatic graphite is mainly used in large copper production line, at present, China has hundreds of production lines, are using graphite crystallizer. Continuous casting crystallizer is an important part of continuous casting equipment, because isostatic graphite has high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, good electrical and thermal conductivity, oxidation resistance and self-lubricating properties, often used as continuous casting crystallizer. Graphite continuous casting crystallizer has many characteristics that metal continuous casting crystallizer does not have, such as the work of liquid metal can not leach crystallizer, castings moving with the crystallizer friction is small, the production of castings with good surface quality and no reprocessing.

 

(5) Other applications

 

Isostatic graphite has a low coefficient of friction and good thermal conductivity, and is often used as bearings, mechanical seals with sealing rings, piston rings and other special engineering materials. In addition, isostatic graphite is also used to make diamond tools, hot field parts for fiber optic wire drawing machines (heaters, holding cylinders, etc.), mining industry to manufacture drill molds, hot field parts for vacuum heat treatment furnaces (heaters, load frames, etc.), astronautics (nozzles, etc.) and precision graphite heat exchangers.
