Cold lsostatic Pressing - Significant Processing Benefits

Cold isostatic Pressing(CIP) is a compaction process for powders enclosed in an elastomer mold. The mold is placed in a pressure chamberand high pressure is applied uniformly from all sides through a liquid medium. Applications include preforms of powder metal advanced ceramics. cemented carbides, refractory materials, graphite, and plastics.

CIP offers several significant processing benefits:High compaction and uniform density pro vides predictable shrinkage during the subsequent sintering process. CIP's ability to process large, complicated. and near-net shapes saves time and cost in after-treatment

CIP can produce large aspect ratio parts (2:1) with uniform densities. Higher green strengths allow easier in-process handling and treatmentand lowers production costs.Isotropic proper ties in the finished product are useful in many applications.

The cold Isostatic pressing process uses a liquid media, such as water or an oil or glycol-mixed water, to apply pressure to the powder. The powder is contained in a mold to preserves the shape of the mold.

Common applications for Graphite Crucible Properties include compression of graphite, consolidation of ceramic powders, refractories and electrical insulators, and dental and medical applications.

The three main advantages of Isostatic pressing process are high (60-95%) Theoretical Density, improved material properties and safer and more efficient production.

This process increases mechanical properties, makes the material less prone to corrosion deterioration. It is an economical method.

Dry bag pressing

Dry bag pressing is a technique that is used to apply pressure on the object using a flexible membrane. This type of pressing is commonly used in the aerospace industry. It is also used in the automotive industry where it is known as squeeze casting. It also finds applications in the medical industry. It helps in the fabrication of prostheses.

Wet bag pressing

Wet bag pressing is a technique that uses a flexible membrane to apply pressure on the object, but in a wet bag pressing liquid such as water or oil also plays an important role. Liquid helps in providing lubrication which reduces friction and wears & tear inside the mold cavity during pre-heating and pressing. It is mainly used in the automotive industry where it helps to produce precise components with high dimensional accuracy.
